Modern designs in implant restorations: how to optimize esthetics and minimize complications
Optimal treatment outcomes in terms of esthetics are highly anticipated. Whereas patients often ask for best esthetics, clinical evidence suggests that patient- and clinician-reported outcomes substantially differ. Still, from an esthetic and biological point of view, critical issues thereby include the use of a provisional restoration to shape the emergence profile, followed by a concave transmucosal part of the final restoration in the esthetic zone. In the posterior zone, the apico-coronal implant position as well as the crestal mucosal thickness play an important role. In addition, the restorative angle of the final restoration should be as minimal as possible to ensure long-term peri-implant health.

From science to practice: an in-depth view on modern implant restoration designs
To optimize long-term biological stability and aesthetic performance of implants, critical parameters include: a proper planning of the implant position, soft tissue management at an early stage, the restorative material(s) and an ideal implant restoration design in terms of the restorative angle. The masterclass discusses in-depth the various factors contributing to long-term peri-implant health and optimal esthetics. This includes clinical guidelines for the esthetic as well as non-esthetic zone.
