Dr. Luigi Canullo
Graduated cum laude in Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1994. PhD at the University of Bonn (Germany). National and international speaker on surgical and prosthetic aspects of implant dentistry. He is author of more than 100 articles published on international journals on topics related to Implantology. Active member of the Italian Academy for Osseointegration (IAO) and European Academy of Osseointegration (EAO). Visiting Professor at the University of Berna (Switzerland), reviewer for the most important journals in implant dentistry, he awarded the price for the best clinical presentation at the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO in 2008), the price Martignoni at the Italian Academy for Prosthetic Dentistry (AIOP, in 2012), the price for the best scientific article at the American Academy of Osseointegration (AO 2013, AO 2019), the prices for clinical and basic research at Italian Society for Osseointegration (SIO, 2016), the price for the best clinical research at Spanish society for surgery and implants (SECIB, 2017).
His professional office is in Rome, limiting his private practice at surgery and implant supported prosthetic rehabilitation.

Bio-logic evolution of the regeneration: what I learned during my last 30 years.
During last decades, bone regeneration represented the “Eldorado” of all dental surgeons.
The starting point was represented by biology behind the clinical scenario anticipated during early 90is. However, the pressure to reach the ideal outcomes in the shortest timing led to controversial results.
Recently the introduction of digital planning allowed a more precise surgery, helping the clinician to pre-view all the strategies, including flap design, materials selection and surgical timing.
At the same time, deeper insight of the biologic processes regulating the bone turnover helped to select the patient and eventually maximize his response to the regeneration. And at the same time, understanding the complex equation of the bone regeneration (with all the variables included) helped to choose the right timing for re-opening and prosthetic loading.
The aim of this presentation is to critically analyze all the clinical tips to achieve successful and longitudinally-stable hard and soft tissue regeneration.

Strategies for a bio-logic bone regeneration
Bone regeneration might be assimilated to a complex mathematical equation where individual regenerative pattern, anatomical shape of the defect and surgical/prosthetic strategies play a key role.
However, according to the basic science, stability of the graft, material characteristic, waterproof sealing of the tissues represent the clinical final goal of every regeneration technique.
The aim of this presentation is to critically analyze all the clinical tips to achieve successful and longitudinally-stable hard and soft tissue regeneration starting from post extraction site development to the most challenging bone regeneration in the esthetic area.
